I read a question posted by an African American talking about all the crime, drugs, HIV..the school drop out rate..and how that sort of thing affects African Americans so much more than Caucasians. The question was what could be done about it and why it was that way. Many of the answers referred to lack of self-esteem because of slavery being the problem. Literally, what is it that African Americans want from Caucasians? What would heal this rift, if anything? Is this a money thing? ?(the word reparations was mentioned more than once)

I have always considered us all to be one race.. am I truly one of the few that thinks this way?

Daemon...slavery was a fact..and asking a valid question about how African Americans feel about it now, and how we can fix the great divide, does not qualify me as either a bigot or a racist.

I don't want anything from anybody. Period. However, I urged the Caucasians to be fair in the media and not portray other races such as the Blacks as if they are inferior to the Caucasians, making stereotypes look more real.

I think the African Americans who keep bringup the slavery thing just want a free ride. they want to be treated like kings/queens and never have to do anythingto deserve it. Iits an You owe me forever attitude, and its holding the whole of North America back. I'm sorry, but I didn't have slaves, nor did anyone in my family. In fact, my family homestead was one of the northern point on the underground railroad. I don't owe you anything simply because my skin is lighter any more than you are not as smart simply because your skin is darker.

If you always considered us all on race, you would not be asking such racist questions or stating bigot ideas.
