these specs are of course , nothing we have today.

With the fastest super computer on earth, commissioned Cray's baker will be the 1st petaflop SC ever. Even with this system capable of over a trillion operaytions per second - the human brain is still faster. As far as other factors of intelligence - I dont think we may ever be able to "simulate" the more abstract characteristics that make human thought unique. Most projections say Quantum-computing will be a reality in about 10-25 years - possibly with the ability to calculate "everything" instantaneously - possibly we can "mimmick the more "personal" aspects of thought.

The next 20 years will definately be the most amazing 20 years there has ever been - the possibilities are ALMOST limitless

First of all we must know about brain mapping and know about how the genetics and on its basis the brain works. After we would have mastered brain-mapping, we could create an artificial brain capable of doing the same things which a normal human does. This A.I technology will be fully dependent on nano-technology,because making a computer which is as intelligent as a human and is the same size of the current computers is very hard to make just using the current technology. Moreover, we would have to make them a bit less intelligent than humans as if they would be as intelligent but more powerful than us, they would replace humans in every field which would cause global problem. So creating such computers is not very far and we are soon gonna see them in the nano-age.

Is that a security question?

For a computer to seem intelligent, you need inteligent humans to program it.
Actually you need a large group of intelligent humans to program it.
A lot of facts and rules have to be input into the memory of the computer. So the computer needs a lot of memory.
And also reducing the perimeter that the computer will work on helps a lot.

A real expensive computer by IBM (more expensive than a house) can be specialized to playing chess and can beat the best human players.

Any computer is as only as "smart" as the people who program them. The only difference is that after they are programed, they can do things faster, and that is because they have been programed with the information that a person has put into them. It goes round, and round, but I think that you get the idea. Its like this for an example using a calculator: write down 50 five digit numbers on a piece of paper, and have someone add them up on the paper manually, but use the calculator and that person will be done in less than a quarter of the time then the person doing it manually.

Probably not to much since we dont even use half our brain. And reading many questions and answers on Y/A some dont even use a quarter of it Im sure hahhahahhahaha. Peace out and have a great day.

incredible amounts of programing. we're talking millions of lines of code just for starters. the main reason is that computers can not operate outside of the code that they are programed with. so you would have to program a computer to program itself. this way it could learn new things as it went along like a human. of course you would first have to program it how to catagorize everythig it is encountering so it would be able to analize and then determine what form of logic to use in writing its new code. quite a bit of work, actually.

generally if a computer can do it, it can do it better than a human. Except creativity. Art (real art). Emotion. No computer can do these things.
