I need some advice badly, I've had a job that I hated for the last 2 years, I finally found another job with great benefits but low pay and I don't like the job. I thought I was having new job jitters but after 2 weeks I definitely *do not* like it. I am sick of not being paid enough, and not liking what I do, to the point that I dread waking up in the a.m. I can't seem to find something I like, and I hate to be job hopping. I do know I am sick of customer service, I would like to have a job with minimal customer contact---kind of behind the scenes work. I may consider going back to school---I can't seem to get decent wages. I do know that I will probably quit this new jo b, I won't spend another minute working at a job I dislike, I just can't do it anymore. I need some advice, I'm a 42 yr old single mom and I am going nowhere and the clock is ticking!!

Go back to school. I am 40, I work full time, and I go to college in the evening part time. I love, love, love, love it.

Before I went back to school, I used to feel down on myself a lot, and when I hated my job I would feel trapped and like a loser because I'm only trained and educated in one thing, and then I'd get really depressed. Since I started school over a year ago, my depression is gone, I'm happier at my job even on the bad days, and I don't feel like a loser anymore.

Education pays off in so many ways! It's worth it.

Yup, customer service really sucks. You just get dumped on all day by people. And then your boss probably dumps on you for not providing a high enough level of customer service! lol

Don't get into collections or credit agency work either.

Accounting clerk jobs usually have less contact with customers, but the work is pretty dry and won't pay much more. You should probably be pretty good with math and you may have to take some basic courses, but there are tons of accounting jobs out there.

Try getting a job as a secretary at a law firm, they pay out the YAZOO!! You don't need a degree or school for that. They take "entry level" secretaries and teach you on the job. There are lots of ladies from other fields who went into that after 40. They will use your former experience to grow on.

Once you get the job, be a quick learner, never complain about anything, don't gossip or listen to gossip, and don't join a clique until you know whether they are branded as "the complainers." Be prepared to kiss up, attorneys think they are God.

Jacqueline, hon, do not problem. I used to get depressed a lot too a variety of of years in the past. existence does get more suitable constructive--oftentimes when you eliminate the unfavorable people on your existence and replace them with effective ones. now and again it type of sounds like existence is going to suck continuously, notwithstanding it only takes persistence. issues DO turn round, and oftentimes you'd be stuck off protect, and your existence will advance without notice and without notice. Why do people think that they are supposed to enjoy working and get paid well? Most of us, don't like what we are doing and are being paid low wages. We just need to support our lives. Welcome to the real world, sweety! The only way your are going to get ahead is to get a B.A., A.A., M.A.degree and even then you may not like what you are doing. You could always find yourself some wealthy person who will support you.
Good luck!

I might be able to be more helpful if I knew what your level of education is and what state or area of the country you live in. Also... what do you like to do?
