that IS the main attraction to stand up comedy shows: That you see the person, as the are, raw.
please be funny though, and without wit you are doomed to be booed. you need to have a quick wit to compliment your show in reaction to the crowd.
being able to draw the crowd into your act is what makes a true stand up legend, and they can then see the true talent that is impromptu comic genius.
