London inside the M25 is a Global City with a GDP greater than most countries.

Why are we subsidising the rest of the UK - particularly the Scots.

The Corporation of the City of London has escaped any attempt at municipal reform and enjoys powers which make it broadly independent from the rest of the UK. It is in the City that most of this income is made, by pushing numbers. Further devolution to the GLA may have the effect you seek without the need to cut the heart from this country.

If London did become an independent state, the rest of the UK would be governed extra-territorially from Whitehall - which would be a suitably British scenario. Another thing to consider - could Ken's ego handle elevation from Mayor to Prime Minister/President?

I see that you have a particular dislike for scots, but I guess that you can have your own opinion.
If London is a free state, it wouldn't make a lot of money and might even lose some... because you need food and supplies for your jobs (silicone for computers, spare parts for fixing machines, food). Having London part of a province helps it grow.

Let's get something straight!

London is being subsidised by the rest of the UK. It's a bit like a cancer, draining the resources from the rest of the nation in the name of self-progress and after an idea of its own self-importance.

The sooner it goes independent and more importantly self-financing, the happier the rest of us will be.

The north/south divide is still alive, in rude health and kickng.

Its far worse than you state. Londoners are paying big wonga to other cities in England as well as to the Jocks. Lets go independent. Home rule for London, yeah!

Living in a province dominated by a big city, I might ask the reverse. Why are we subsidizing the big city when we receive no services from said monster.

Rofl.........
Get over yourself!

You just confirmed my opinion that Londoners are a bunch of miserable gits! I've been forced to visit London twice and would never go there through choice.

Please get Independence
and make sure Pauline Fowler (your most enigmatic resident) stays there.

Better still ask that question to your new PM!
