my sister is having a problem when where she opens up drive D: explorer crashes (drive D:) is a second hard drive partition not cd rom drive) We found and removed a Trojan horse. She clicks on it and opens it up then about 5 seconds later explorer performs an illegal error and crashes...

Try the following solution (Windows XP):

1. Click on Start
2. Click on Run
3. Type in MSCONFIG, then hit enter
4. Click on Startup tab
5. Review the programs that are running
6. Remove check in those that are not neccessary.
7. Click OK, then restart computer. Once computer has been restarted, put check mark in box that opens, click OK.
8. Click on My Computer, and try accessing the D: drive
9. Run Anti-virus software (Norton, AVG, McAfee, etc.)
10. Download anti-spyware software @ www.download.com (Ad-Aware PE, Spybot S&D, etc.). Install and run full system scan.
