The problem might not be the power supply only or alone. I have dealt with some PCs that have had mother board failures. The caps (Capacitors) have blown. You can visually examining the capacitors and if any of them are bulging up or are not flat at the top surface, this might be your problem. In other cases as in eMachaines, there is a common motherboard and power supply combination that fail. Replacing the power supply alone will not resolve the problem as the problem started with the motherboard first. If you install another power supply, it will not power up as the motherboard is the problem.
Good luck

Usually when there is a power supply failure... the devices which usually get affected are the hard disk, PSU and your ups.

By power supply, if you meant the PSU... good, it was a good idea to have changed it...

I would suggest, you try replacing your current hard disk and ups also, by lending it from any of your friends... and see if it works.

In case the problem is actually with that of your hard disk, try and return your power supply, exchange it with a new hard disk.. and ask those guys to retrieve all the data in the hard disk.

Any how, having as extra PSU is always a bonus especially if you attach many peripherals to your PC...

Good luck... I know how hard it is to find out the real problem. I hope I was able to help you.

If your old power supply failed it might have also taken other parts out with it like the motherboard or CPU.
