Base-Pairing happens during replication of DNA or when it's creating a protien. It is on nitrogenous base being paired with another nitrogenous base.

The Bases in DNA are Adenine (A) , Thymine (T), Cytocine (C), and Guanine (G), But for protein systhesis, Thymine is replaced by Uracil (U)

The Base-pairing rule goes as followed:

"A" MUST GO WITH "T" for DNA replication or "U" for protien systesis.

"C" MUST BE PAIRED WITH "G" only

So these base pairings wont work, but sometimes they happen.

AC, AG, TC, TG, UC, UG

When the base pairing rule goes wrong in DNA replication, kinks are formed in the DNA because Guanine and Adenine are Pyrimidines (Two rings) and the others are purines (Single Ringed).

Hope that helps....but that is liek everything about base pairing to my knowledge
