In the UK undergarments are pants and overgarments are trousers
In the US the underwear is panties and the overwear is pants

all I have to say about this is that the word panties as in underwear creeps me out all together. I much prefer undies.
Panties is a pervert word and I heard that if you say it 10x in a mirror really fast you lose your viginity....
