So many lead singers of rock bands and punk and emo bands are called on being gay. Like Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance, Brendon Urie of P at the D and Davey Havok of AFI. It is sooo annoying because I have no idea if Gerard Way or Brendon Urie are gay and I KNOW that Davey Havok is NOT gay because it says on the official band sight. I think these guys are good looking and when I say that, the response I get is an immediate "you know he's gay right?". That whole subject makes me mad. It is none of these peoples' business what the lead singers of the band do with their life and who I think is good looking. Especially when they say it when I am not even talking to them. Gay people are just fine anyway!

I think alot of entertainers are accused of being gay and one reason is to humiliate them, ruin careers and make them look bad but I wouldn't care.
On the other hand though sometimes it's nice to know that there's a homosexual person in a certain job position, since we are an oppressed group of people.

Coming from someone who is a fair bit older than you, I can certainly say that calling people on their sexual orientation has LONG existed. When was growing up, Duran Duran was continually accused of and being called gay. And guess what, all of them are straight, even Nick Rhodes (the keyboardist in the band). And he was the most androgynous of the four remaining band members put together and still is. But when the lead singer of Judas Priest came out and said he was gay, nobody guessed that in a billion years because he is in a heavy-duty rock band. So that proves that the myth of the "gaydar" is just that, a myth. And you're right, it's no one else's business what singer is gay, lesbian bisexual or whatever. If being any of those things affects the ability of a musician to write a song or play an instrument, then people can worry.

Well I can think of some reasons. how about these...
1. PR people behind the bands want to spread rumors about their sexuality to make them more appealing or something, I know it sounds crazy but they way everything is sold nowadays would surprise you.
2. Gays work and earn money and since many don't have children to support they can spend more on cd's and stuff, and maybe try that new band that has a gay lead singer...or something...

I agree that many people make snap judgements abotu the members of famous bands, and I agree that gay people are just fine anyhow.
People probably assume such things because of the way the people look or act. I don't care either way though...but I do have a slight obsession with boy on boy love! ^_^

Let's put this one right. First of all saying 'accused' is a bit of an over reaction. It is implying they're guilty of something awful. Second alot of people in the public spotlight are deliberately 'ambigious' with their sexuality as it sells more records or increases public interest in them. Therefore alot of the stories about their sexuality are circulated by their own agents or publicity people. Finally what does it really matter. We don't know nor are ever likely to know these people so who really cares what their sexuality is.

because the people that call rock a sin and "devil's music" often believe that being glbt is also a sin, and want to make them look bad.
or gay people like me that think they are hot and just hope they are gay so we can have sex with them. :)
