I think because when you enter your question:

you get immediate responses and it is really cool because it's like you know a lot of people (connection) but in reality. you don't. However, it's also like instant message and chat room but in a nicer way. Not so much as romantically but more as hang out like a friend and classmates.

that's why I like it. also when you answer other's question, you feel the same but like helping someone. it's quiet neat.

Two reasons:
1. Because of the point system, and
2. People like to show how smart they are.

maybe coz thats the only time they get to talk to other people...by answering questions..and asking questions that they would not ask someone they know personally...but yes..it is addicting

Because I like to feel smart by helping people. It also exercises my brain and I learn new things. Also, something about those empty points seems so rewarding somehow. It's like one of Pavlov's experiments.

i think all of them are here the good the bad and the ugly~where else can u ask a normal question and get the realm of impossibilities that occur~most answers i get make me drop the question cause their so weird about being asked?

We take drugs for recreation same as we spend ENDLESS hours on Yahoo! Answers...out of sheer boredom!

I think for many reasons:

First, it gives people a chance to connect with others they might not necessarily talk to.

Second, it gives people who like to give out advice to others a chance to express themselves and give help to others.

Third, it gives people who are in search of something to hopefully find what it is they are looking for.
