i have never dropped it or got it wet. my screen is all of a sudden white. i can still receive calls, and can hear text messages being sent to me, but i can't see anything but white. any ideas on how to fix this problem?

also, if i have to get a new phone, are all of my numbers and pictures lost?

Are you within or about to be out of contract, this makes a big difference as to what they will be willing to do for you as a customer. (EG if you have only completed three months of a two year contract...good luck) As for the pictures if you can't see the screen you have probably lost them unless you have a data card inserted and even then its iffy. Check to see if you have insurance on your phone if you do use the insurance to replace the phone you can opt to send it into the manufactuer but in the meantime ( probably up to three months) you will be using a refurbished loaner phone. Your phone has a sim card and therefore you should be able to transfer the numbers.( phone with sim cards are able to do this). After reasearching into your type of phone it seems like the white screen is an ongoing inissue with the phone. Call Cingular. Ask to speak to someone in tech and open a trouble ticket on the phone, then take the phone back to the store ou bought it and inquire as to whether or not they are aware of this ongoing issue with the sony ericson. Chances are the dealer is aware and will be happy to either fix it or replace the phone ( ask for another model:))

Fix the problem: That problem does seem to be frequent with that Sony Model. If you've tried removing the battey and SIM Card for about a minute (or so) and replaced them but the screen is still white, then chances are you would be better off replacing it. But before you do that try to call Cingular Customer Service from a landline or a phone other than your broken Sony phone (as they will ask you to go through a few procedures to determine if the problem is repairable).

Preserving/transferring numbers & pictures: Cingular can (indeed) copy your contacts for you when you get another phone. As for your ringtones, wallpaper, pictures, etc, go to the Cingular website enter the Customer Forums http://forums.cingular.com/ and post a question. There are a lot of great knowledgable people on that forum and they're always happy to help out. They'll direct you to where you can (legally and at no cost) find the right software that will give you the ability to view and transfer all those file to your new phone...

(Bonus Information) Replacing the phone: After attempting to diagnose the problem and depending on how long you've had the phone for as to what Cingular will do for you as far as an exchange or how much it will cost you. This is assuming that the phone is no longer working due to a defect (nothing that you did to damage it). If you've had it for 30 days or less, the Cingular will exchange it for you if you take it back to the store you purchased it from. If youve had it for more than 30 days but less than the manufacturers warranty, then you will have to call Customer Service and they will exchange it under the manufacturers warranty. Thirdly and assuming you purchased the insurance coverage on it and if you've had it for a period that is beyond the manufacturer's warranty then you will have to contact the insurance company and they will process a replacement for you. All of this information can be found at the Cingular website as well as in the Cingular Customer Forums.

Good luck...

Cingular can take all of your contacts and transfer them to a new phone pretty easily, unless it's a dinosaur phone. As far as pictures go, they might or might not be able to save them. You might just need a new screen. Try taking it to store you got it at.

the two and each and each month once I get my abode telephone bill, I ask myself why. i think of three human beings have the variety. i think of i've got made and gained (finished of the two mutually, recommendations you) 4 calls on it interior the final 6 months. yet nonetheless...I keep it. Why? i do no longer understand...must be some deep seated lack of self assurance, lol, some as yet undiagnosed, unnatural emotional attachment to landline telephones? Yeah...phonaphobic separation disease or something...hmmm...ponder whether it might qualify me as heavily disturbed sufficient to ditch gainful employment and assemble a verify or something? Lol...nah, probable no longer, so i assume i will purely keep paying a very ineffective bill each and each month till???
