I recently learned that there is such a thing as a birth star. My birth star is:

Zeta Tucanae
(I was born on 2/12/79)

and my fianceé's birth star is:
Gamma Leporis
(He was born on 11/10/77)

I have not easily found any explanations of birth stars online. Can someone help me with this? I am interested to know (for curiosity's sake) what all of this means.

I also know that my Chinese sign is the Goat.
My fianceé's Chinese sign is the Snake.

I am an Aquarius with a moon in Virgo and Leo rising.
He is a Scorpio with a moon in Scorpio and Aquarius rising.

This is all just fun for me.. :)
*(Please don't make fun of me.. haha)

Just a refinement of your birth sign and based on the same ideas.
Did this come from using the solar or sidereal astrology forms?
Both are based on the exact time and place of birth. And would be the exact star system directly over head at the time of your birth.
Zeta Tucanae a star system in the sun sign of Aquarius.
Gamma Leporis a star system in the sun sign of Scorpio.
As star systems are named by their discoverer it would be hard to assign a exact meaning to its placement in your charts.

Light traveling in empty space is the fastest thing in the universe. It travels at 186,000 miles per second!

The stars are so far away from us that their light still takes a long time to reach Earth. One light year is the distance light travels in a year: 5,878,499,812,499 miles. The closest star apart from the Sun is 4.2 light years away, so its light takes 4.2 years to reach Earth.

Birthday Stars are your age in light years away. Thus, the light we're seeing from that star today actually left the star around when you were born, and has taken your entire life to reach Earth.
