A friend found it on a job site, here in central Oregon. I collect rocks, but this is the first one I have seen like it. I tried several websites that identify rocks and minerals, but they were no help .http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/9789/hpim0532editedrg9.jpg

I'm not arock hound, but I've been reading about Oregon Sunstones in central Oregon. I'm unsure if it is a cluster type of rock like this one, but this looks like a dessert sand rose with something like sunstones in it.

You might check if there is a rock club in your area and see if they can help you identify your friends find. It's a great rock in any case. Congratulations on the find!
