One of my friends (i dont really like him) asked me whether we wanted to do something next week and i lied to him that i was going away to see my cousin somewhere else so i've just blocked him off my msn. Was this the wrong thing to do

Certainly, why can't people be honest? If you feel bad when you lie, then why do you do it? If you're always honest, you should hold no guilt; and that's a much better feeling.

The fact that you posted this question indicates that you feel guilty for what you did and are looking for some one to make you feel more commutable with your guilt. If you have to ask if something is the wrong thing to do then it probably is. If you don’t want to hang out or befriends with some one its better to just let them know. That person will not bother you again forcing you to lie and feel guilty, the only down side is he will probably think you’re a douche but you don’t like him so why would you care what he thinks of you?

yeah, it was kinda wrong. instead of saying you are rescuing baby cheetas in the Amazon, why don't you just say, "No, I can't make it, but thanks for asking."? he's not going to be offended that you said NO. he'll be offended that you gave him this big exuse...
you should help this guy find some new friends. it's good that you're being nice to him, but i get the feeling that you're doing it "because you feel bad for him" type thing. i've done that once or twice. you should still be nice to him, but don't feed him lies all the time to get him off your back. introduce him to others that may have the same interests or something! :D i think you should let him know that you messed up, and you should be straight up honest w/ him.

Well really if you don't want to spend time with him then don't, maybe this is a good way to make him feel like yes you would like too but can't, try not to make the lie to big or eles you may be suck if something gets out. Really though maybe you should just tell him "Mate i don't really like you" although this could be though up front another good way to get out of your friendship would be to start spending less and less time with him bring you msn convo's so they are short and he may himself feel he is drifting away

Yes it was kinda wrong because if he is your real friend he won't care if you want to take a break from him. Try this and if it doesn't work he is not a good friend. You have other friends hopfully

well.... to be honest... i have done this same thing... but i would say that it should be straightened out... tell him that he is getting on your last nerve and you just cant take it anymore... yes it will hurt.. but if you drag him along... and make him THINK there is a friendship here... then it will end up worse in the end!

yea, it was the wrong thing to do. best thing is to unblock him and stay iun your house the next weekend, if you don't want him to see you. Or go on a trip with your mom or something.

No, you were not wrong to do that. It is your choice about who you see and who you talk to. Problem is that you will have to some point tell him that you are not interested, or he may keep contacting you.

i think its a heartless thing a human to do,if you don't like him,why not be frank about it,ask yourself what if this person you call friend blocked you, would you want that, would you enjoy it...?

probably not. but, it's not cool to lie. just be honest. or, as honest as you can be. a simple "I kinda wanna be alone this weekend" would have probably been better.
