It's probably locked up. Clean up the hard drive, check for viruses, update drivers.

Sounds like you are using Microsoft Windows. Better get used to it. If it is not the program you are using (Does it always Crash when you are running Google Earth, or playing Halo2?), it's probably just Windows being Windows.

If it is windows try this:

Click "Start", then "Run"
in the box, type in "msconfig" (without the quotes)
That will bring up the System Configuration Utility
Click on the Startup tab
Uncheck everything, All these programs have to be loaded BEFORE Windows even starts
You probably have Real player, quick time, Video card utilities, help and support from the manufacturer, language bar, MS Office and god knows what else- taking up your memory.
When you click OK it will ask you to Restart your system. See if runs better.

If some widget you are use to seeing doesn't show up when you restart, go back to msconfig and re-check the box. Most of the entries give some clue as to what they are.

1. Windows has memory problems, often adding more RAM to your system will help.

2. Check your video settings, if you have an older video card, it may not have enough guts for what you are doing. lower the screen resolution or color depth

3. You may have a virus, trojan or spyware. Update your virus software and do a full system scan. If it finds no viruses, try this free program called Spybot

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
