First, is the car easily fixable? You may just have a bad thermostat and thats a fairly cheap fix. Otherwise, what I used to do with my old V W bug was to bring a cloth and a bottle of rubbing alcohol (DON"T USE WHISKEY, it works but can be too tempting to drink when you are freezing). Put some of the alcohol on the rag and wipe the frost off the inside . It works great. BUT DON'T SMOKE OR HAVE AN OPEN FLAME or it could end up REALLY getting the ice off your car in a hurry. Good luck.

Ice very seldom forms on the inside of the windshield unless there is excess moisture in your car. Keep your windows tightly shut and screens rolled up. Try rubbing your windshield (inside) with antifog (RainX is good). Hope that helps.

Post year make model, any over heating problems and most recent history. quick check- did you just by the car or first time driving it and needing heat?? then check to see if you heater core is bypassed. Are you getting any heat from any vents at all?
