Why we are a good singer? Just imagine this wherever you go in the Philippines there is a videoke, karaoke, singing contest etc. Singing is a past time & tradition for us Filipinos.

It's because a Filipino singer belts out from the bottom of his/her heart. What comes from the heart is what matters most among Filipinos. A Filipino singer puts so much great value on how has he/she brought happiness to the audience rather than how much money he/she has earned. It's typical actually to Filipinos to say "Okey lang, ang mahalaga napasaya ko sila..." (It's okay, as long as I have made them happy...). Filipinos may not be as lucky as other nationalities, monetary-wise, but we're proud to say to be one of the happiest people in the world. We can easily find contentment on the finer things in life, one of which and most notably, is karaoke. If you have the chance to travel and check out even just one small community, you may discover that 8 out of 10 Filipino households, spend the "siesta" or spare time in singing karaoke, be it inside the house or in a nearby "sari-sari" store.

Filipino people usually just imitate other singers that are known with their vocal power (mariah carey, celine dione, whitney houston, chaka khan, etc.) I mean for me good singers don't just know how to scream (uhmm... regine velasquez) or sing something they didn't wrote (uhmm... mymp) They should know how to write songs and express them that people would actually feel or like them (Tori Amos \m/, fiona apple \m/, jewel \m/, etc.)... sure some Filipino artist go international, but that doesnt mean that they are good singer... i mean I don't think Britney Spears is a goodsinger but a good entertainer and sold millions of album worldwide.
Sure , some bands write their own songs but most of them didnt give much sense... for example a song that target the piracy industry and it result to the song "DVD X" which an elementary student can write in a minute... I hope that we don't waste filipino talents like Sitti, mymp, etc. that is trapped on the cycle of recycling music...
I am not against Filipino talent... wish that they don't just waste it for the sake of fame or money... oh well how would they make more music if few prople support them...lol

Hmm do you have an example such as who are the Filipino singers? I'd heard Korean singers and they're pretty good also compared to some Filipino singers out there.

Because singing is one of their favorite hobbies, so as early as childhood filipinos have been singing. It then develops their singing abilities; hence they become good singers.

But I think of all races, the blacks have that inherent talent because they have big voices, like that of Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey. But like they say, practice makes perfect so we become good singers too :)

Koreans are good at singing too because kpop is so popular with their clothes,beat,and singing.I also agree with Filipino singers because they just sing from the heart so goodd 😭.

It is our favorite pastime. Singing and Drinking, in that manner everybody needs to learn how to sing, and i should be good.
