You could try Wolfs Rain, that was about wolves
Princess Mononoke is a classic Miyazaki film that deals with animals (also has wolves)
Fruits Basket, although animals aren't central, the characters do transform into animals on occasions
Kimba the White lion is an older anime (and probably where disney got it's idea for the Lion King)
just a few that i can think of at the moment

Oh! you'll love 'Fruits Basket'. This anime is superb that it has the twelve animals from the chinese zodiac plus a cat.
