It was working great playing oblivion, bf2, cod2 without a hitch. All of the sudden today it was running a little laggy when i first started to play a game, and i turned it off. When i wanted to turn it back it on it goes to the usaul Black energy saver screen, checks hardware bla bla. It tries to start up windows but it goes to a blue screen and starts all over. This computer was working great. I hope it is just a software problem. If it is not the os i am thinking it is the hdd. I should try to boot up in safe mode though, but will this work on a custom computer?

Off the cuff answer: Something obviously hosed up on re-boot. Go to START>Accesories>System Tools>System Restore and choose and earlier date to restore to.

And yes, go to Safe Mode if possible to try that.
