I had a friend that had about $50 took out of her lousy minimum wage paycheck when she worked at a convienience store. The reason why was because when gas prices increased, so did drive offs. And she was charged for the ones on her shift. I asked her if she signed an agreement and she said he just did it. Guess what? She filed a small claims suit to recover her money and got back the money, court cost and interest. An employer has to take you to court if they feel you owe them money. BTW the judge verbally slapped this guy around a bit which was the icing on the cake.

I worked in HR years ago and the law was that under no circumstances can an amployer dock your pay. Even if you stole cash from them they cannot dock your pay. They would have to recoup it through the legal system.

It's to protect the workker. Otherwise, an employer could make up reasons to dock your entire paycheck.

Once my ex-employer GREG HAEFNER bounced my payroll check and them delegated the apology two weeks later to a middle manager, that was the moment I decided to quit, but that's not the same is it
