I understand how you feel. I am the mother of two, and the last few weeks were pretty tough. I was uncomfortable with back pain and nausea, and very anxious to meet my new baby! Both times, I began to experience stomach sickness again (after first trimester) around 38 weeks. I think your stomach begins to become pretty crowded as the baby grows, and it becomes impossible to eat regular meals without feeling sick. Eating small, frequent meals helped me.
I was 2cm dilated both pregnancies from 38 weeks on. With both babies I was one week overdue, but went into labor on my own without being induced. I walked and walked, drank raspberry tea, stimulated my nipples...I tried it all to no avail. I think the baby comes when your body and cervix are ready, which for me was at 41 weeks.
I sympathize completely, and I know it is uncomfortable. Try to get as must rest as you can, eat small meals, and take it easy. You are going to need your rest very soon for labor and after the baby arrives!
Good luck.

Don't take castor oil. I've heard stories that castor oil can cause the baby to have a bowel movement before it's born, and then swallow the meconium (the first stool) which is sticky and can cause serious lung problems. Don't take anything else, either...after making it through 38 weeks safely, why take a risk?
Intercourse can help induce labor...there's something in semen that helps to soften the cervix. Nipple stimulation can bring on contractions, but I've heard you have to do it for three hours (a day!) for it to work.
Walking is good too...if you already have a stroller, you can take the stroller along to lean on. Take a friend with you, or at the very least take your cell phone and don't walk too far from home.
Eat smaller meals more frequently...your stomach doesn't have much space right now, so a normal-sized meal can make you feel uncomfortably full. When I was pregnant, my doc said Tums were safe, so if you're getting heartburn they're worth a try.
Most of all, no matter how uncomfortable you are, taking care of a newborn is so much more work than being pregnant, so you're not at the hardest part yet. While you're waiting, why don't you and your husband do a few things you won't be able to do for a while after the baby is born, like having a nice quiet dinner in a nice restaurant, or going to see a movie (lots of theaters now have seats that recline a bit, which would make you a lot more comfortable than you think).

hi-no walking doesnt help to induce labor
things like that only work if you are ALREADY in active labor.-drinking castor oil will only make you sick, blech.
I wouldnt worry about going past--you can be like that at your appt today & by tomorrow be 5 or 6 dialated.
it just depends on your body and how fast baby wants out
I've been sick to my stomach with the back pain for the last 6 weeks
2 weeks ago I was 1 1/2 dialated and 50% thinned-- this past Thurs I was 3-4 dialated and 60% thinned.
I know someone who has been 2 cm dialated since Thanksgiving.
my doc says I wont make it to my appt with him next week-but Im feeling nothing like my baby is going to be here soon.
just sit tight & good luck! baby will be here soon.

do no longer take castor oil. i've got heard thoughts that castor oil could reason the toddler to have a bowel flow till now that's born, and then swallow the meconium (the 1st stool) that's sticky and could reason severe lung issues. do no longer take something, the two...after making it by way of 38 weeks appropriately, why take a danger? intercourse can help bring about exertions...there is something in semen that facilitates to melt the cervix. Nipple stimulation can deliver forth contractions, yet i've got heard you ought to do it for 3 hours (an afternoon!) for it to artwork. strolling is nice too...in case you have already got a stroller, you could take the stroller alongside to lean on. Take a chum with you, or a minimum of take your cellular telephone and don't walk too a approaches from abode. consume smaller foodstuff greater normally...your abdomen does not have plenty area precise now, so a classic-sized meal could make you sense uncomfortably finished. whilst i replaced into pregnant, my checklist stated Tums have been secure, so once you have become heartburn they are properly worth a attempt. maximum of all, no remember how uncomfortable you're, looking after a new child is so plenty greater artwork than being pregnant, so which you're no longer on the toughest area yet. collectively as you're waiting, why do no longer you and your husband do some issues you will no longer have the skill to do for a collectively as after the toddler is born, like having a spectacular quiet dinner in a spectacular eating place, or going to work out a action picture (an excellent sort of theaters now have seats that recline somewhat, which might make you so plenty greater soft than you think of).

You poor thing, Man I definitely know how it feels.
I didn't give birth till I was 42 weeks along with my first, that was three months ago.
Have you felt the severe stinging pain in the cervix yet? That is usually a common indicater that you are well and truly on your way.
The best thing you can do at this point is to definitely work your way at bringing on labor.
With being induced there are so many negative outcomes. Usually results in a c-section.
When I was 40 weeks along, I decide to get off my big butt. (yeah it was huge!) I went for a half an hour walk at night, when you are that far along that is about all you can handle.
You can buy evening primrose oil capsules which you poke a few holes in and you insert about three of them into your vagina. Don't be afraid to push them in, this really does help soften the cervix. Semen also is a natural way to help the cervix eface.
I remember how difficult sex was those last few weeks but I definitely believe it is what brang on labor for me. :)
Every night after 40 weeks, My fiance and I would have sex and after ejaculation, I would pop my butt up under a pillow for half an hour (this helps the semen settle around the cervix) Afterwards I would insert three evening primrose oil capsules. You have to poke holes in them so the oil can spread along the cervix.
Also, raspberry tea leaflets are known to help. If you are 38 weeks along that means if you do go into labor after 40 weeks you had given yourself two weeks of the tea, it is truly known to help.
Just keep walking. And as hard as it is to do, take your mind off of bringing on labor even though it will probably be all you can think of lol. After going for a walk, relax, put your feet up (swollen ankles hurt!) Elevation is the key. Watch a movie :)
Once you do start to feel those contractions coming on strong, walk around! You have to move to move things long. Hop in the shower and run some hot water on yourself and see if the contractions intensify.
Stay positive!
Good luck over the next few weeks, for your sake, I hope you aren't waiting as long as I did!

Don't get so anxious yet. You still have 2 weeks. I don't think you will go past your due date. If this is not your first baby, it could all happen much faster; dialation and thining out of your cervix. And even if it is your first baby, you still have time for all that to happen before week 40. Good Luck and hang in there. It won't be much longer now.
Oh yea, lots of women get sick to their stomach just before labor starts. I did with one of mine and I had back labor with another one.

It is possible you are sick. I attended one woman in labor (at least everyone including the nurses thought it was labor) who suddenly vomited violently after being in the hospital for 4 hours with very active labor but unproductive contractions. She then told us she had been throwing up most of the morning. She was hooked up to an IV because she was dehydrated, and within minutes the contractions stopped. So, if you are ill stay hydrated to prevent a discouraging and fatiguing false labor.
Here is a link that explains some of the ways to tell when your body is moving closer to labor - and if you follow one of the links off the page you can find ways to try to naturally induce labor. Good Luck.
