Being overweight with PCOS it is very likely you have hyperinsulinemia (excess insulin production) which has led to insulin resistance. You may or may not have type two diabetes in the making. I had this problem only 14 months ago, and now I have a 3 month old!!! You can lose weight if this is the problem, and I would make a sure bet it is. My doctor put me on the Atkin's diet which restricts carbohydrate intake. It's a very strict diet and lots of people say its extreme, but it suits PCOS sufferers with this medical condition immensely. (Of course you need medical supervision and no kidney problems). This leads to very quick but needed weight loss. That, and one course of progesterone & clomid was enough to help me lose weight ...I was over 110 kg then fell pregnant at 95 kilos (not sure of conversoin, but 110 kg would be over 200 lb...) A month after bub's birth I was 90 kg, and am sure it will continue to fall. Of course I didnt maintain the diet during pregnancy , but it was definitely a factor in having a healthy baby.
With PCOS your biggest pregnancy woes are diabetes, but good knowledge of food and carbs and diabetes helps a lot. Also, there is a higher risk of miscarriage.
A difficult pregnancy is worth it at the end when you have a wonderful baby. Good luck.

I did, after two years of trying. The only problem I had with the pregnancy was sciatica, which is fairly common with any size of woman. Because of the obesity, I was closely monitored, but all was fine! Since I began eating healthier once I found out I was pregnant, I lost weight at the beginning of the pregnancy, and overall gained five pounds through the course of the pregnancy. This was totally fine, and the specialist said this was very common with obese women. I had a totally healthy, wonderful baby of just over 8 pounds.
I was not diagnosed with PCOS then, but apparently would have had it since high school.
Wish you luck. Get lots of information from your gynecologist about PCOS and your options.

YES!
I was 220 when I got pregnant (5'4")
I gained 8 pounds the first month.
Lost 10 the 3rd month due to bronchitis.
Didn't gain anything from 4 to 7 months due to morning sickness.
Gained 50 pounds in the last month due to preeclampsia.

Lost all of it within 4 weeks.

My baby is the epitome of health: Never spit up...., never had diaper rash. 8pounds exactly at birth. 50 percentile all the way through the first year so far (she is 11 months).

However, my health was terrible: I had preeclampsia (now I know it was because I have hypothyroidism). I had a csection 2 weeks early because of it.

My lungs were partially collapsed from either being pregnant or how they push on you during a csection, and I ended up getting an e-coli blood infection, and got pneumonia 8 weeks after giving birth. I got up to 275 in the hospital from all the iv fluids, and I was so huge....I couldn't even walk during the last month.

I have stretch marks on my FEET...they retained so much water.

Now....it is my opinion that you should seriously be checked for thyroid problems. I had been diagnosed with PCOS a few years ago, and couldn't take that medicine they gave you...it caused terrible diarrhea, and I had to quit.

PCOS can be regulated with low sugar intake. You might actually be very surprised if you cut sugar completely out. I did and lost a lot of weight fast.

PCOS makes it hard to GET pregnant. My obgyn was great. When I told him I was trying, he told me to just lose 10 pounds, and that would probably help. I got pregnant within a month of going off my birth control pills.

Whatever you do, start taking prenatal vitamins right now....that is most important for fighting birth defects, and seriously check your thyroid....and get your doc to note any slight level problems.
Preeclampsia is the worst...if you can prevent it (very hard to do), you are lucky.

Good luck to you!

I weighed roughly 200 when I got pregnant for my son, lost 30lbs. through the first 8 months, then gained 9lbs. in my last month. The baby and I were both fine throughout the pregnancy and during delivery.

My sister in law had 3 kids. Two of which were born while over 200 lbs. With the first, she wasn't over 200.

I'm not over 200...but still TTC....

Keep exercising and Keep TTC! Best wishes.

IVF (in vitro fertilization) treatment; IUI, ICSI and Laparoscopic surgery is very cheap in India. The cost is very low and the medical services are very good in India.

My cousin and her husband got their IVF treatment in India through the Forerunners Healthcare in India and is all praise for this company. She is a known case of PCOS.She is a very happy mother of a baby boy now. She just paid 2500 pounds for the full IVF treatment in India for which she was quoted 8000 pounds in private setup in UK.

Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India. I read a lot about them in the newspapers. I have also read about a Chinese couple who planned surrogacy through the Forerunners Healthcare. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery and infertility treatment like IVF, IUI, and ICSI abroad for low price. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery and treatment can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Hope this helps.
