separate him from your main tank.... well, it might be too late now... you have to treat the whole tank for worms.. yes, it's a parasite. Go to the pet store to see if they have any deworming meds.. if not, i think you can go to the vet and get deworming med.. you'd have to ask the vet for dosage.

Your knife should hide and be at funny angles, thats normal. I'd be surprised if you saw him eat since they are nocturnal. Are you feeding him properly? You know they don't eat flakes right? At best, carnivore pellets, but he needs meats, live and frozen food and they really love ghost shrimp.

As for the worms, it could be a few things, and the treatment would depend on what type of parasite. Sounds like hook worm. Use meds for scaleless fish.

Most probably is anchor worm. There is cure for it. Go to the pet shop and tell them that your fish might have caught anchor worm. They will know the correct medication for it. Anyway, find out first, is it anchor worm? My guess is...80%.

i've got sometimes seen them on the great chain shops like puppy sensible or Petco. i could look for a self sustaining fish keep it is family members run. they'd order it for you and could be happy to take action simply by fact it could win them a sparkling customer. look on line for a save close to you. Their high quality of fish is oftentimes plenty greater and have a greater advantageous wisdom of fish. I stay in CA so our shops may be diverse.
