Through the transference and resistance analysis of free association. You can't do it without at least four years of training.
The analyst's goal is to help liberate the patient from unexamined or unconscious barriers of transference and resistance, that is, past patterns of relating that are no longer serviceable or that inhibit freedom. You can't analyze them without them knowing they need to take an active role in the analysis.

That's an odd question.... in general psychoanalysis has been proven as a pseudo-science in that it is not really reliable or supported by any kind of hard fact. That being said, early psych-analyzers of the Freudian school were highly trained people and learned to recognize similar themes in dreams.

These dreams were said to derrive from unconscious wants and desires that were influenced by differing levels of the self: the id, the ego, and the supergo. In otherwords, the bare drives that we have (i.e. hunger, sexual appetite), the things that impinge upon our bare desires and drives (i.e. parents, money), and finally the societal implications (i.e. cultural norms).

Dream imagery can come from any of these levels, but Freud liked to attribute them to sexual desires more than anything. That is why he is commonly known for his phalic representations (i.e. cigars).

Psycho-analyzing someone at your level will consist of free associations. Do you see a common theme? how do they feel about it? can it represent somethign in real life? You can BS your way the rest of the time.

But keep in mind, you're not quite legitmate and what you're saying has no real basis so is just a load of baloney... but for some - it mayhelp them feel better.

Rant on! Some of Obama supporters prefer to psychoanalyze someONE rather than just analyze someTHING, like one of his idiotic promises of a perfect world after he moves into the Oval Office. Many of Obama's supporters are in college, but that doesn't mean they are or ever will be college-educated. I'm sure we all know some very smart people who didn't go to college and some very dumb people who did.

Easy. Do a survey.

Oh, and take what you THINK you know from Freud - who had all the wrong premises anyway, think just the opposite of him and you will have the ability to psycho-analyze!

Good luck -

Why would you want to. A good personality test would tell you all you wanted to know. Try The Myers/Briggs.
