Try right-clicking on the IE icon on your startup menu. But frankly, I'd recommend using Opera or Firefox since Internet Explorer has had some security issues in the recent past. Opera and Firefox are a bit more secure, as I understand it.

Find your Internet Explorer icon in your start menue or in C/programme files. Left click the icon, hold the button down don't let go and drag to the desktop. Or right click the icon and click "create shortcut". Then copy the shortcut icon and paste to your desktop. Simplest way of doing ot is to just right click the original icon and click on copy, go to your desktop and right click in the empty space and click on paste. bingo!instead of pasting like that u can just simply go to the desktop and hold down control and press V

Easy. Go to your Internet Explorer Folder (its in Program Files) right click it then click create shortcut and drag the newly made shortcut icon to your desktop.
