I am computer programmer and hanged on single project for about 8 months. I wasn't being able to promote to take the position of my manager who left the company because of personal reasons and issues he has in the company. Similar to this project was never done before in the company history and no one can continue the job I am doing. It is because every one who wanted to take over my source code at least takes 1 month to understand each part of it. So they are too dependant on me. The customer always reports his satisfaction of my job to Top managers. The manager replaced is fully incompetent and to me will lead the company to closure. I brought this manager to company as my employee actually he was living in my neighborhood they never even taken my idea into consideration before completion of the project. My thought always fluctuates so that I cannot concentrate well. Is it my problem or it is the problem of company mismanagement?

Every organization has the issues you described. Different names and different faces. Individuals working on a project become "too dependent" when someone doesn't share information. Your example outlines the inconsistencies of those you work with but where do you fit into the equation? Progress on a project may be slow/time consuming but you have to keep people in the loop. Also, you have no control over how long it takes someone to "get up to speed" in learning a task or project. Cross-train if you can and keep moving/growing. You are not responsible for someone else's failure.

Do what you can.... if you want to move up with the company, you have to look for solutions. You've analyzed the problem - incompetent management, inconsistencies with understanding your job scope or how to cross-train another individual to resume your tasks and top managers who are not willing to listen because they want results. The problem is two-fold: You are emotionally vested in a situation you have no control over. Simply get the project done so that you can move on to the next assignment. Secondly, you are analyzing the problems you can't personally resolve (incompetent managers, top leaders who can't lead efficiently). If your actions impact the resolution, go for it. If not, focus on what you can impact (like finally getting that 8-month project done). One person can't solve a company's mismanagement (unless he/she is the CEO and even then it's not done right).

feels like clueless mismanagement. regrettably you will see it further and extra. the real concern is the character of firms enormously for the time of lean circumstances. All managers see is $$$$ i'm an IT guy too. I paintings for a small corporation and that i think of I do my interest properly. All that concerns although is how plenty billable time I even have. So i'm inspired to prioritize consistent with $$$$ and do greater paintings in a mediocre way. whats up if it breaks we are able to value to restoration it later. This leads to cheapness, poor infrastructure, and eventual customer help themes. even although NOW NOW now's all bean counters see It didnt was once this undesirable. i think of you will desire to get out. you would be able to discover some thing greater advantageous. place of work area and Dilbert are the present corporation type in many places. in case you could bypass into corporation for your self, you would be fortunate. i'm attempting to get out of IT if i will discover yet another residing salary profession. they like to suck the existence out of you and blame you for what breaks

You are being mislabeled as "slow" so they can later fire you without you suing them. They probably have it "in for you" because you were friends with the manager who left the company for personal reasons/issues with the company. They believe you "know too much" about that manager's complaints about the company and want to get rid of you.
