No way, you are never too old!!

P.S. They say that learning a musical instrument or a new language keeps the mind sharp so there is an added health bonus!

you are probably not too old to learn. it might take a little longer, as you missed the prime "absorption" stage for learning, but it won't be impossible. the main thing i would be worried about is the smoking. if you have been doing it all your life, you may have problems with getting enough air to play some long strings of notes. but, you never know until you try.

i dont think ur too old maybe ur LUNGS wont WORK RIGHT because you are SMOKING..... playing trumpet involves using a great amount of AIR from the LUNGS and will be DIFFICULT if you cant GET ENOUGH AIR THROUGH THE LUNGS because you are SMOKING

i play trumpet and its really cool, go ahead and learn it..

and btw, quit smoking..it's bad...:)
