I think we have gone off the deep end it this area. I have a friend who was see a 14 year old before he turn 18 then when he turned 18 her parents had him arrested for molesting their daughter. The mother was 14 when she had her first child by a 20 year old (which is now her husband). How ironic is that. This young man is now serving 5 years in prison and will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life. I think something should be done with violent repeat offenders. We don't give a person a chance to change their ways. I know another young man that was arrest for indecent exposure (drive by BA) and now has to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life. In the 50's, 60's and 70's that would have been considered stupid childishness (streakers would be imprisoned today). Officers would take the kid home and their parents would talk to them and it would be over.

Most of the "hard core" sex offenders are so sick in the head I don't see them changing unless it's the work of God who does it. Now for you dating someone who's older that depends on the situation.... are the acts they do willing or not? If they are raped well then of course it's awful and the guilty party should pay for what they've done. Sexual preditors are SICK! They are usually repeat offenders. So many times you see them giving them a "2nd chance" OOOOH and look they do it again! Some people do deserve second chances but some this is just no hope left for them. The one's who raped and murdered.... I think they should be sentenced to death. But then again... some people are wrongfully accused and it would be horrible to be put to death for something you never did. Awwww it's a hard subject to justify what's the right thing to do.... But basically to get to the point... YES they should be monitored in some way!

Self preservation should be something that the boy is thinking about. Is his future worth a fling gone bad? A lot of fathers are very protective of their daughters. That is ingrained into what a father is, and does. Sex before she is of age is designed to protect her, and so those laws continue to be enforced. Self control is something expected by the citizens. Passion should be controlled, and not what controls the person. 'No" is a good word to be familiar with. In some states, she would be of legal age.
To directly answer the question, most people do know the law and choose to disobey it. I have never really known any boy who was not aware of the law and what would be the result of sex with an under age girl. So, yes, life monitoring is fair.

Rapists and child molesters yes, they should be monitored for life. Many do repeat their crimes. Statutory rape, not necessarily, because there are two sides to every story and most of them just end up on the wrong end of the parent's revenge sticks, unless they are like 50 and the girl is 15, but when they are 20 and the girl is 17...

Well now, haven't we opened pandoras box. The answer is actually quite simple. sex offenders are rated according to the severity of their crime. someone who dates a girl 2 or three years younger then him is a level 1 and gets little flack in the long run. that can be removed from his record in 10 years if he is a good boy. if he forced himself on her then he would be a level 2 sex offender. still considered to have some hope of reform, but most of us would not care if he got 20 years to life instead. if he harms a small child, say 7 or 8 years old, and has done this more than once, he is a level 3 sex offender. this translates to lock his *** up and throw away the key, I would say hang him but it's more fun to let the guys in prison have him. wouldn't want to waste some good rope that we can use on a murderer.

Yes.
Most sexual assaults are commited by repeat sex offenders.
But in your example, "No," because it was a consensual sex between two people. It wasn't rape or against the will of her.
Sex Offenders should be monitored for life. What you just asked questions the definition of a sex offender. An 18 year old having consentual sex with his 15 year-old girlfriend, in my book, is not a sexual offense.

i agree about the teen couple situation. but those that truly rape or molest kids. no use for them. put an explosive tracking collar around their neck. if they get excited it explodes. i haven't figure out all the details. strangely some realize they have a problem and know the solution. castration. one offender when he was released requested it,they wouldn't do it. a recent case a five year old got in trouble at school for sexual harassment. he pinched a girl on the butt. i wonder will he be labelled.

I think that there should be the 2 up 2 down rule when you are a "teenager". I don't think that it is right for an 18 year old guy to have to go through that for a 15 year old girl.
While I wasn't "doing anything" I dated guys that were older than me. I was just smart enough not to be a tramp.

It is hard to be fair in these situations. Serial predators should be of course. but then what about a guy (or girl) who has a one night stand with some one they met clubbing and mommy bursts in on them. I think that some flexability should come into it, but it is hard to know exactly where to draw the line.
