I just tiled my entire bathroom with porcelain tile. Looks great, now I'm ready to grout. The last 1/3 of the bathroom was just set in the mortar. Do I need to wait before aplying grout to this area, or can I just go for it before the mortar is completely set?

Also, I have sinced learned that placing the backerboard and tile over the flange on the top of the tub is wrong. It was only supposed to rest on the top, it's already done this way. to me it looks fine, but will this cause some sort of unforseen problem?

Thanks!

Let the mortar cure first--otherwise it may bleed into your grout and discolor it. I wouldn't worry about the backerboard and tile over the tub flange, but I do recommend using a siliconized acrylic tile caulk instead of grout between the tub and the tile. Caulk is more flexible and will resist cracking if there is movement between the two. The link below is for one product line that is widely available.

They ignored a step....Use a competent sparkling silicone caulking interior the 'crack' the place tile and grout meet wall. otherwise, if as an occasion, somebody showers and gets water on the floor, it gets into this section, bypass under the tile and start to destroy the flooring under the tile. mold and mold could additionally advance in those moist areas. Molding trim purely covers the sting of the tile giving it a less complicated greater finished visual attraction, notwithstanding that's nonetheless splendor...to guard, you ought to seal or caulk around the outer edges of your flooring. you will additionally ought to apply a sealant on the grout between your new tiles as properly, or a similar concern can ensue, as grout is porous and might take in water and soapy drinks which then bypass down into the underflooring, and diverse drinks can stain the grout.

You've done too much work to rush now!! Wait until the mortar cures. Don't rush it. On flange it will be ok unless you ever have to change it out then it will take dynamite to get it out :-) Seriously, no problemo!!
