I have a compaq now that my grandmother got me from raido shack about 8 years ago. I have had few problems with it ... had to get windows reinstalled. I am not a gamer the only game that im really interested in getting is called Medal of Honor which is a war game that you play online with other users. Other than that its just basic stuff like internet and music downloading and cd burning.

we had a emachine for 6 yrs , we gave it still working to a friend when we got this new one. they seem very good for the price. juts be sure to read the details and see it meets your needs. is the ram expandable or is it maxed already example 512 installed up to 4 gig possible , is the video card in it capable of doing what you need, if your a gamer does it have a slot open to change cards later. upgrade ability is important. but my experience is that they are reliable and well made.

I have personally repaired 3 Emachine desktops and know of a local computer service center that has also repaired over a dozen eMachines in the past six months. The motherboard and power supply both failed at the same time.
The MFG is difficult to work with if you have problems. They tend ot last up to the end of their THREE YEAR warranty and then failed hard. Depending on what your needs are, buy one on line from Dell. You will be happier and won't spend much more than $100 bucks above the eMachine.

Good Luck

E MAchines were no longer equipped with the Gamer in concepts in truth there call form of says all of it they were lower priced pcs designed to get the a lot on the information superhighway. Now that is not any longer to assert that they do no longer make a pc which will play each and each of the present video games yet in the experience that they do i'm certain its as severe priced as the different comparative gadget out their.

eMachines are decent computers. They aren't ground breaking technology, but there adequate for most users. Have you considered buying a laptop? The prices have become reasonable, and the portability is really nice, especially with a Wi-Fi connection.

I have both and actually like them both. E-Machines are picky about their RAM, but mine has the SD, My compaq is the best computer I have ever had, but then again I completely upgraded everything, it's not really even a compaq anymore, the mobo isn't original. If you buy one and don't like it, you can return it, my friends did without a prob.

E-Machines are made by Gateway, and are okay provided you don't need a powerful machine.

I'd recommend going with a Dell.

Or better yet, make friends with a geek who can build you a custom rig for cheap!

ive had 3 emachines, they are the cheapest, most reliable ive ever had. dell doesnt come close to price-longevity ratio.
