You have two separate issues here, and they aren't necessarily related.
Suicide:
Yes, I've thought about it - seriously for about two days. One way a therapist or counselor knows that someone is serious about suicide is if they have a plan on how to do it. I had a plan. You know what drew me out of it? I thought of my family. What would this do to them? That thought made me realize just how selfish I was being. I was thinking only of me, and had no regard for how my suicide would effect them. Also, I've often said that suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem (I swiped this, so don't be too impressed with me).
Cutting:
Usually those that cut themselves don't want to die, just the opposite, it somehow makes them feel alive. It's reported by cutters that they feel numb, and the cutting at least makes them feel something.
In either case, the answer is to find a good therapist, and very possibly a psychiatrist (or have the therapist refer you to one if they feel medication is necessary too). These are both serious issues. The first for obvious reasons, and the second one, because even though most cutters don't want to die, they can accidentally injure themselves badly enough to kill themselves.

I had a student who would cut herself. She was going through a rough time at home with her mom. Plus she didn't feel pretty or skinny. She just could not see the good stuff other people saw in her. She was a brilliant writer - so great. She was a fantastic motivator. She could get the students to do anything! She had gorgeous hair and a wicked sense of humor and wierd kooky friends who were smart and friendly. But all she focused on was the down side. I hope she's happy now. She just needed to get past all the mean stuff in high school so she could go out in the world and be a fabulous wonderful person.

When I was a teenager I tried to kill myself. I didnt want to live anymore. I was just tired of life and everything in it. I took some pills and laid down to fall asleep, hoping I would never get back up. Then I started hearing all my favorite songs on the radio. I got up with my friend and walked around. I got really sick and threw up and then I was ok. Sometimes all we see is the bad things around us. When we get so consumed with the bad stuff, we have a tendency not to see the good things. A baby, a beautiful flower, rain, sunshine, the sky, a rainbow. Life is forever changing. It never stays the same. You might be in a bad spot now, but it doesnt mean its always going to be like that. I saw no way possible that life was going to ever get better. Its hard being a teenager, but you get through it. I know a girl that cuts. She is really miserable and makes everyone else miserable around her. I talk to her and try to help her.

Yes to your first question. Why? cuz i guess, some people can't go on living, but I would never want to cut myself, its the worst possible death i could think of. I decided not to commit suicide in any ways, I don't want my family to be sad, or my friends...and yeah...I found my reason to live.
If anyone is feeling alittle down and thinking about suicide, don't, i believe we all have a reason to live.

Yes to the first and no the second. Suicide is an option among many. Cutters are usually girls who are in emotional pain and cutting themselves relieves this emotional pain somehow. It's like when you have a stubbed toe then you hurt another body part worse, it makes you forget your first pain momentarily. It's still there but you are distracted. It is hard to live with someone who is abusive to you. Neglect is also difficult. Parents are often abusive and neglectful because of their own pain. Children then have no hope of dealing with their pain when their parents are unavailable to help them. Find someone you trust and reveal your pain. All humans understand pain. We all react to pain in the same way, with shame and scary feelings. We can't believe others have been in the same pain and recovered. They do. Loss of trust in others and yourself often leads to suicide.

I haven't, but I know many young people do. It is a way to express emotional pain. Unfortunately, it is a very dangerous and unhealthy way to deal with the pain, and it does nothing to help the person move beyond the pain.
Please call a suicide hotline. They will be able to direct you to resources to help you deal with and heal your pain.
I'm sorry you're hurting, and I hope you will get help for yourself.

Yes to both. The reason was I wanted someone to love me so much that the mere fact that nobody did, brought on such self-loathing that pain and death was more desirable then life itself.
