I've tried theropy, that didn't work.
I tried facing it, that didn't work.(It just makes it worse.)
What else can I do?
I am afraid what outsiders will think if and when they find out about it. I can only avoid the topic for so long until someone else brings up certain subjects and asks me for my input. Should I just lie and say everyting was great or should I tell the truth and say it was a nightmare?

You must truly forgive yourself for whatever it is that happened -even if it was just an embarassing moment. Stop lying and trying to cover it up, that will only make it more difficult to overcome. You have to remember what happened and tell yourself that even if it was unforgiveable by your standards, that you forgive yourself. If you were not the cause of your problem, then you must forgive the person who DID cause the problem (yet again) even if what they did is so horrible that you don't want to forgive them. You don't have to tell them that you forgive them, all you have to do is mentally do it. Accept what happened. Forgive whomever was involved. The reason to forgive has nothing to do with whether what happened was right or wrong; instead you must forgive so that you can move on. Forgive so that you can cut your ties. Forgive so that you can start living in the present.

If that didn't help you, you may want to read the book "The Four Agreements." Also just realize the the power to heal yourself emotionally is within you, all you need to do is realize that you can.

in my opinion ...i would tell the truth ... you can't assume outsiders will make a big deal about it whatever it is that you can't come to terms with... its like soul searching, yourself. you yourself can only stop yourself from running ... and when the time is right you will know and let people in ....but i say tell the truth but only when the topic comes up ...but then you need to be able to trust the people around you. also.... but always stay true to yourself ...
