I know I should put more lyrics but I just cannot remember them. In any case, it is a distinctive SOLO by Davy Jones, hardly any background music. It is more like reciting a poem.

You may be referring to a track called "The Day We Fall In Love" from "More of The Monkees" (1967). It is a tone poem recited by Davy Jones, and is generally considered the worst track the band ever recorded (nothing to site this, but several Monkees fans I've spoken to have derided the track).

Monkees music supervisor Don Kirshner, I believe, was attempting to duplicate the success of "I Wanna Be Free" from their first album with this song. In fact, it was nicknamed "I Wanna Be Free '67" by Kirshner.
