ALL love is conditional.

"Unconditional love" does not, and SHOULD not exist.

If you say, "I love this person... but they must NOT murder my mother." Then you have just set a condition.

Giving everyone "unconditional love" is to debase the value of love all together. It is saying to your wife/husband that you love him/her just as much as you love the stranger you met at the super market. It is saying to your wife/husband "It is selfish of you to love only me. Every girl/guy should be allowed to love you to. It is okay for you to sleep with as many people as you want, because I love you unconditionally."

It devalues love and makes it cheap and empty.

Love, of all emotions out there, should be the MOST conditional. Because love must be earned. Not given. You're worth more than that.

Do you love the crazed, murderous drug addict just as much as you love your child? Would you sacrifice your child to save the drug addicted murderer because you feel love should be "unconditional." ?

Love always has been, and always will be, conditional.

I know that I should try harder...but it's....hard.

I am trying to be nicer...I really am. Just today I smiled and said hi to a Mexican...

Baby steps.

EDIT TO ADD:

Not all love is conditional. I love my brother with all my heart...but I can't stand that man!!!

People say they don't hate anyone-but those people don't love everyone. I don't show love to everyone. But I believe I do love people, and have the capabilty to love.
