The best answers are the truth. A woman has breasts because they are there for feeding babies (biological reason). Moms and Dads sleep in the same bed because they enjoy being close to each other a night (and because they have a bigger bed.) Children sleep in smaller, individual beds because that is what their parents chose for them. Afterall, some siblings do sleep in the same bed.
I would think by the age of ten, a child would have a concept of marriage and reproduction. If not, he needs some basic information now. He doesn't need a whole sex talk and have everything spilled out at once. But he needs to know basics such as babies grow inside women, a husband and wife has a special relationship between them that they do not have w/other adults. etc. He does not have to have sex explained to him yet unless they think he is ready. There are lots of good books (NOT PLAYBOY MAGS) esp. for children that explain these things. There are even books that address sexuality from a religious view and they are very good.
Most of the time, the simplest answer is enough.

No!
When children have already begun to ask questions -
It's very late if dad is just beginning to learn what to say and when to say it; to his own children about sex and relationships -
And it is absolutely, most definitely
past time for dad to grow up and learn how to talk to his kids.
Better reference books are available at the library and bookstore.
Get the trashy magazines out of the house -
If you don't want to raise another generation of sexual predators and abusers of women;
It's time to get going - Wikipedia.org - excellent online reference
Parents should be MARRIED - See Wikipedia - the following is part of an article on Marriage taken from Wikipedia.org
Marriage is a socially, religiously, or legally recognized union between two or more people, for the purposes of the formation of a family unit; legitimizing sexual relations for procreation; social stability; education and development of offspring; economic stability; security; and companionship, or any of such combinations. Marriage as an institution traces back into antiquity and is found in virtually every culture.

No, don't say something like that because in 1 year he will seem like an idiot in family life next year. You should have told him that it was because mom and dad love each other. The whole why does mom have such things question, just say I will tell you when you get older. You should remember that it is better to not give him an answer rather than giving him a bad lie.

10 is old enough to know about sex and boobs and such things. Kids should stay informed throughout their childhoods. Tell your friend to tell her son the truth: that women have boobs so they can breastfeed, and mothers and fathers sleep in the same bed because they are married and love eachother. Is that so hard?

No, I don't think so. The kid is going to probably think that's a dumb answer, especially if it's not true. You should have just told him because mommy and daddy love each other very much, or some other such horseshit. And besides, it might be around the time where they could tell him about sex and such anyway.

I'm sorry, I don't think that was the right thing. At the age of 10, I think a child can understand that a married man and woman who love eachother sleep in the same bed because they enjoy being close to eachother. And as far as male/female anatomy, if you don't want to go into too much sexual detail, all you'd have to say is that men and women are different, inside and out.

Good job. Dont tell a 10 year old kid about that kinda stuff otherwise he will become obsessed and be jerking himself everyday when he gets older. He will learn at school in health class. And dont keep playboy magazines at the house or anywhere that he can get.

By 10 years old, someone should have explained about his body, sex, etc. to him. It should be explained to him with intelligence, honesty, and some sense of delicacy. In fact, you should start much earlier than 10! It's best to teach kids about these things before they learn it from their friends (who don't really know what they're talking about), or Playboy (which may not be on the correct level for a 10 year old). To be honest, I don't think your answer was intelligent, honest, or delicate....just immature.

The kid is 10 years old for heaven's sake. He is old enough to handle the truth. That's like telling a kid they were found in the cabbage patch when they ask how babies are made. Your friend needs to find some books that will help her explain things on his level.
