No. It's just less likely that adults will hear it because as we age we tend to lose sensitivity to sounds above so many Khz.
Men lose this range more than women.
It's tied also the volume of the sound- your Mosquiot ringtone on volume 7 will be audible to some people who can't hear it on volume 4.

I can't hear it below about 40dB in my home office- a modestly noisy environment.
