I am webmaster who is working on some up-and-coming websites, but I'm not quite where I want to be finacially yet. So, to supplement my income, I work 5 nights a week in a restaurant as a cook.

My problem is this: I have been at my current job for almost 2 years now and I cannot catch any breaks with the owners or management. EVERY TIME I WALK THROUGH THE DOOR, they are talking about some new policy about this or that. They constantly tell us cooks what we did wrong the night before, etc. I have gotten one .50 raise in the last 2 years. It's absolutely ridiculous. I am sick and tired of it.

The owners treat us like crap. The managers are complete idiots. I was talking with another co-worker this evening and the manager actually walked by and told us to shut up and get to work. I'm 26.

I'm tired of being treated like a child and working for cheap owners. And, above all, I AM SICK OF THE RESTAURANT INDUSTRY.

I seriously can't take restaurant work anymore. What are some other options?

What I can say is that if you already have experience u can find some other place to work...I mean u don't deserve to be treated like that...u should complain if they have treat badly...I have a husband who has been working for 4 years and the manager took him a while to raised him he went up to him and he told either u raised me or I'm out...u shouldn't let that why u have the right to tell him to not treat u like that....

~With your attitude, be grateful you've got a job. Obviously you haven't been looking very hard for another one or you have no talent or marketable skills such as would help you land one. If your whining here is indicative of what you do at work, you are being treated like a child because you act like one. Raise, hell. Sounds to me like you're lucky you haven't been fired. When you own the shop, you can write the rules. Until then, you are a replaceable hourly peon who is required to do things the way you are told, like it or not. What is your problem with being told to earn your wages and to hold your social hour on your own time. You owe the boss you time and effort, for which you are paid. The boss owes you a check for your time and nothing more. It's called life. Deal with it.

You have 2 years experience in your field. Go work for another company. If you really don't like the business anymore, then figure out what other skills you have and apply them to another line of work. Don't continue on this path. You'll only make yourself miserable.

I feel it would be best for your sanity to try to find a new job. Don't quit your present job until you find a better job; unless the situation gets really desperate.

Good luck.
