I have 2 Sega Saturns with the same problem. My first thought was that maybe the motor is worn out. But that is not the problem. The disc drive is getting power because the laser mechanism is working. Sometimes when I power on the unit the disc twitches, but will not spin the disc so the system can read it. Any suggestions on how I could fix this or where I could get replacement parts for it.

Got the Disc to spin, now it's not reading the disc, it says there is no disc in the drive. It seems to be making the normal movements, and the laser was just cleaned.

Oh boy, you got to be one of Sega most loyal customers 8-)) I still has my Dreamcast and i haven't touch it in years. Gave away my Saturn sometimes ago. Anyway i don't think you can do much about the problem but there's something you can try. Turn on the saturn, open the lid while the power is on and try to move the whole laser mechanism back and forth ( in and out all the way) until you hear a click to reset it. You see when you first turn on the power the laser head is suppose to move to a preset location in order for the motor to spin. Because the drive is very old sometimes the mechanism does not move back far enough to its location and therefore it can not signal the drive motor to spin because it's not in place. By moving the whole laser mechanism in and out you can reset it to its loacation. Try that to see if it works.
