I lost a sock once. . . Not sure it was in the dryer or not, but if it was in the dryer, then I am pretty sure it may still be hiding in there. I have a place in my dryer where socks tend to go after then have been stripped off my foot, not exactly like a stip club, but similar. . I think they go there. That's where I would go if I were a sock and disappeared in the dryer. . . In fact, I don't think I would ever come back just to be trapped on a stinky foot and be suffocated in a shoe all day THEN just to go through it all again.

Most often they never made it into the dryer, but a lot of times they get stuck to something else with static. That item is folded up (a sheet or blanket perhaps) with the sock attached and it can be months before it is found. By that time the one remaining sock has been discarded and new socks have been purchased. I have always believed that the manufacturers of socks include materials in the socks to make them "clingy" and thus ensure this happens.

If your sure they went into the dryer, they are probably under or behind the drum. I got sick of this and now pin all socks together before they go into the wash.

Somehow they get lost in our sleeves or our sheet corners or perhaps on the way to the washer. I have back tracked and found a few but not all. My hubby says they go down the hose drain! Perhaps who really knows for sure!

They are in other clothes. I have found them in other socks, in sleeves of shirts, or just stuck to the insides of clothes. I use fabric softener, and don't seem to have static electricity, but I find them in clothes anyway. Sometimes, I don't find them until I try to put the clothes on. Good luck. (Hopefully your husband hasn't accused you of stealing them just to get him mad?!)
