Kerry and Ken Salazar co sponsering a measure that would expand the crimes that can strip congressmen of their pensions.

Currently only treason and espionage convictions can strip a congressmen from espionage.
Per this proposal bribery, perjury and fraud would be added to that.

This passed the Senate already with a 87-0 vote (apparently even though its their job to make law some didnt bother to vote which is the norm)

This is a great proposal and should have always been this way. Only bad thing is its not retroactive so we cant take away the pensions from 20 people who were former convicted and are drawing pensions now.
Oh and too bad it doesnt include former presidents... ( .. I did not have sexual relations with that woman )

That's nice!!! Now if they only did away with the perk such as calling up corporate jets to be wisked away at a moments notice. You don't think the corporations are doing it without expecting favor in return!! They also need to cut back on their staff 6 or 7 would do. Let's not forget the expenise accounts that are bottomless. Maybe we can also stop them from changing all the office funiture each time someone new is elected. Wow imagine how much money the tax payer could save.

It's a good idea. But I don't think it will prevent anyone from doing anything wrong. The greatest punishment for bad behavior from a politician is social ostracization. I'm sure most do it with the firm arrogance they will not get caught. Still, it's good that tax dollars are not funding people who lie, cheat or steal.

How is it that a Dem is putting this forward? and not a Conser? let me think??? D-Chain could be in trouble if he got caught...

It is long over due.

NOW other than Junior because he is not smart enough and Senior, because he was smart enough and Regan, because Queen Nancy would have cut them off. It is well known in history that the majority of former presidents had another woman for such needs other than his wife during their time as the Chief, Clinton choose poorly in whom he had helped him out.

maybe it was the criminals in the Senate who didn't vote, they couldn't let their constituents see that they voted against it, so they just didn't vote, why did it take a new congress to pass legislature to reform ethics policies? Was it not a high priority with the "moral majority"

It will never fly through the house. His fellow moonies will see to it that's it fails. They will all loose their pension. Now Kerry will look like he was doing something good but he knew it would never fly. Old democrat trick.

They should install harsher penalties for politicians convicted of crimes because of their violation of public trust.

John Kerry is starting his run for the white house. He just can not except the fact that he is a loser.

It would only be fair if Kerry goes down as the first one to go for his war crimes during Vietnam .
