I started the Master Cleanse Diet and intended to do ten days, but stopped it on day 4 when I found out I was pregnant. Could it be harmful?
For the 4 days, all I had is a special kind of lemonade (lemon juice, Maple Syrup, and Cayenne Pepper, water).

1. You should be taking prenatal vitamins before you even start trying to get pregnant....to prevent birth defects.

2. That stuff isn't so bad in itself, but there is absolutely NO nutrition in it.

3. The good news is: the baby during the first couple days isn't feeding off of what you consume..... The very very risky time is between about 7 and 12 weeks when it comes to nutrition and actually doing serious or fatal harm to a fetus.

I don't know when you found out you were pregnant. I am assuming at around 5 or 6 weeks?

You'll be having an ultrasound soon (8 weeks if you tell your doc about your worries), and they will make sure the fetus is okay.

Good luck, and stop those crazy diets.

when you are pregnant NO kind of Diet is safe. You should be taking vitamins and taking in foods that are both good for you and the growth of your baby. Restricting your caloric intake right now is not a good idea. I don't know anything about this Master Cleanse diet, but your pregnancy comes first... you can focus on your weight and trying these things that are new when you are no longer carrying a baby that is depending on you for nutrition. Your first trimester is so important to the rest of your pregnancy.

You will have plenty of time to cleanse after the baby is born and you are done nursing if you choose to do that as well.
Good luck and congrats.

The Master Cleanse diet is harmful whether or not you're pregnant. Horrible idea, hard on the body. Don't do it.

Very doubtful it would have any adverse affects that early in your pregnancy. People do worse things before they know they're pregnant, and those kids turn out fine. I wouldn't worry about it, but mention it to your doctors to be on the safe side.
