For brunettes with brown hair honestly any color eyeshadow suites them but the best are earthy tones. Browns, Greens and Oranges work well, as well as plum and a mauvey color.
For Blondes with brown eyes greens and blues look fabulous.
For red heads again greens, purples, and golds look great.
Like others have said though, some of it depends on your skin tone. Just experiment with lots of fun colors and see which you like best.

I myself am a brunette w/ eyes to match. I use L'oreal eyeshadow in "Autumn Leaves." It comes in a quad. Apply the light caramel color on the brow bone to highlight, the bronzy color to the whole lid, and the solid brown color to the creases. Then blend it all together and finish off with a little bit of mascara. The results are amazing! Eyes look intense!

It also depends on your skin tone as well. If you have a pale and slightly pink skin tone, olives and yellow toned colors don't look so good, but on someone with honey toned skin they look good.
Fair haired/ blue eyed people tend to look better with pink toned browns and/or pinks. Redheads can get away with greens and blues. Just not shocking blue. And brunettes usually go with browns and golds. But, this is a generalization.
The most striking thing I've seen on a brunette was a base of gold, with warm browns, and a little bit of blue at the lash line.

It really depends more on your skin tone and eye color that your hair color. Plums, mauves, wines and purples are good for a fair skinned, brown-eyed girls, like myself, it really brings out interesting colors of gold and green. If you have olive or dark skin, go for greens and golds, deep, rich hues like browns with golden undertones work too. This has a tendency to pull out the bluish-greens and hazels in brown eyes. Have fun! P.S. - ALWAYS use black mascara! Don't use brown if you have dark eyes, it's just not intense enough to balace out the strong colors.

For you the best would be a dark lavender color.
For blondes the best would be either a baby shimmery blue, silver, or pink
For red heads the best color would be a brown or gold color, which would also bring out the shimmer in their hair.

It is a bit more complicated than hair color, because of skin tone, etc. I would say generally, the following work well:
brunettes: browns are the best, tans, purples, blues, golds
blonds: blues and silvers are the best, pinks/peaches
red heads: browns are best, tans
As a brunette with pink undertones in my skin, I prefer a charcoal base with brown on top.
Hope this helps.
