Its been a while, so I hope I am saying this correct. One computer has to have two network cards installed in it, the other computer can just have one. You plug the modem into one of the two network cards and then plug a cable from the 2nd network card to the other computers network card. You then need to enable ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) in Windows.
I recall something about a crossover network cable, thats a cable that has 2 pins hooked up backwards on purpose. But I think that is only when you make a LAN connection and each computer only has one network card. If you hookup a regular network cord from Computer A to Computer B and attempt to view the network, it wont work unless you have crossover cable, but thats not for sharing the ADSL, just adding that in there.

One comuter will require 2 lan cards.. If it does not have this, its much much easier to buy a router for 20-30bucks. However if you do have 2 lan cards in one. That one needs to be your "Server" assuming you have windows xp you should be able to set it up useing the simple network setup wizard, as for the other computer you will need to say i connect through another computer on the network.
Best bet get a router.. Compusa and Bestbuy tend to have deals quite often on decent routers where after rebates are like 10 bucks... Also www.newegg.com is a great source for online computer parts..
Good luck.

Connect to your ADSL modem to computer one using the USB connection. Connect computer 2 to computer 1 using your ethernet ports. You will need a ethernet crossover cable to connect the two computers.
I believe you will have fewer problems with a $30 router, or switch if your ADSL modem has a built in router.
