Simple question, was just wondering if a virus can be hiding or even stored in a router?

Since most routers have upgradeable firmware, a virus writer that knows how the hardware and software works, yes. The same concept applies to upgradeable BIOS chips in computers.

However I am not sure that a virus like this exists (yet).

Since a router has software and storage, then yes, a virus can attack the router. But, this is unlikely. To protect your router, make sure you have changed the default password and enabled some kind security (Mac filtering, WEP, WPA).

Not HIDE or be stored in it, but it can pass through it of course, the router doesn't have RAM or a hard drive.
