I believe this was a NES / Nintendo game.

I don't remember much about it but I believe it involved the elements.

There was one where the character had to pass through a cave and at the end of the cave was this large sun-like thing in a pit that would spit something at you as his face moved around.

I don't remember if the character had to catch it or if they came with their own bombs but you had to toss something into its open mouth so that it would explode within. You had to do it a few times before it was killed. Then you could hop down and go through a doorway.

And I believe the end of the game, you were in front of a huge mountain that you had to climb upwards. The gist was that all the elements were floating around in the sky above just tossing random things down at your character.

Does anyone recall this game?

First off don't knock the person asking the question, because the description of the ending of the game was vividly described well! You obviously haven't played Ironsword and gotten to the end, so don't be so judgmental. Oh yeah and it's vague use the check spelling button next time.

The answer is Wizards & Warriors II: Ironsword!

It took me a second to get the description, but where I was following you was at the end of the game on the volcano and all 4 of them are up there attacking you and you have to switch between the elemental powers you have gotten throughout the game to destroy them!

The character name was Kuros by the way and that game ruled!

Let me know if you need it a copy of the game on your PC man, email me.

1st of all NES/ nNintendo = same thing

since it involves climbing and cliffs, I'd guess Cliffhanger (based on the Sylvester Stallone movie of the same name)
