Ask your doctor if your son may need breathing treatments. My nephew had asthma really bad when he was 11 motnhs old from RSV, they put him on Xoepenix and it cleared up his "constant cold".

My son has asthma and he kept a cough for two or three years. One day I was having a hard time getting him to do his treatments and so a took the day off, and the cough stopped. Well I talked to the doctor about it, and he said it sounds as though we were giving him to much. I refuse to use asthma medication as prevention now. He rarely coughs unless he is having an attack and that has been few and far between. This is not a common thing though and that may not be the case with your child so I would go and talk it over with the doctor.

And to answer your initial question yes it could be allergies as well, but that to needs to be discussed with the doctor.

I have had Asthma and allergies for most of my 28 year existance. My advice to you is remove the pets from your home. They may be part of the problem. Even though your son had Asthma symptoms before the pets were introduced into your home, the dander can make symptoms worse. His Asthma needs to be re-evaluated if the medication isn't doing anything for him. Asthma and allergies go hand in hand. If your son does have allergies, it can trigger an Asthma attack. I have an air purifier running constantly and change furnace filters regularly.
Hope this helps!

Try cutting dairy out of his diet for a week and see if it makes a difference. It can cause inflammation and mucus production in kids who are susceptible.

Yeah... I'd look into it. Maybe his asthma medication needs to be changed.

Get an appointment with an allergist to find out what's going on.

Do you have pets? Unfortunately you will probably have to remove them permanently from your house, unless you want your child to suffer.
