Ok Layla, I work at Abercrombie and yes we do sell a lot of white in the winter. We always sell white and we have white shorts and skirts out now too..Maybe you should check the site and nobody mentioned Abercrombie anyway.

You absolutely CAN wear white after Labor Day. That outfit sounds adorable, so show it off!

That fashion rule of thumb hasn't been true for the last twenty years or so.

I know that it started with not wearing white shoes during fall and winter months, maybe because the weather during those times was bound to make the shoes dirty. Then it became all white clothing. White and bright colours became spring and summer clothes, partly to show a change of season fashion wise and also to sell more clothes by making it unfashionable to wear the same colours from season to season.

Maybe the rule came from practicality...white clothes are more likely to get dirty if you're walking through snow (since it will fly up a little and get on the back and cuff, and it will be extremely noticible). If its a sunny day though, and its not snowy (or melting snow), then that shouldn't be a problem.

It's white *shoes* that you're not supposed to wear after Labor Day, not white clothing. However, the rule is really pretty much defunct by now, so you may defy tradition if you wish.

There is such a thing as winter white. It is more of a cream than white. Pure white looks too stark in winter and white shoes rarely look good on anyone at any time.

There's nothing wrong with wearing white. It's a stupid thing, but you don't have to follow that rule. lol the only problem there is white wearing white is that it's more likely to get marked and stained where you won't see it! lol

I'm not a fashion snob so as far as I'm concerned wear whatever the heck you want as long as you're not showing off anything that you wouldn't want a stranger to touch.
