I saw the preschool building and the next day I went in and picked up an application. I filled it out, turned it in and when I was called for an interview I dressed my best, was friendly and was interviewd by 2 people at the same time, the boss that was leaving and the one moving up. I was honest with the questions they asked me and when they asked if I had any questions I asked them some questions. It is never a good idea to say no because potential employeers want someone who is motiviated enough to learn as much as they can about the company they will be working for. I have had my current job for 13 years and i love it

I made numerous applications to anyone who had an opening that I was qualified for, or believed to be qualified for. I work for the Army. Their website name is "CPOL". Just look up the Army website and look for civilian jobs. "Jobs USA" is another place, the Navy's site is 'DONHR", department of Navy Human Resources, which will include the Marine Corp. the Air Force site is at Randolph AFB, which is called "AFPC". Do a search for AFPC, and this will lead you to Randolph AFB, just look for civilian jobs. Register on line for each one, fill out a resume' for each one, EXACTLY as they ask it to be done, and submit it. Then look for jobs at the various sites. If chosen, it can take as little as 3 months to be hired, and as much as 6 months. Yes, it is slow, but can be worth it.
No one gave a good word for me, I obtained my job based on my abilities. It might do you some good IF you know someone who works at a certain place, and there is a job opening that you qualify for. If not, you just have to be the best choice. Talk to the various unions that represent civilian employees who work for the government. They might be able to help you. My interview was done by telephone. I was at a temporary job at Pope AFB, and the place that I was called to interview for was on the west coast. That is a bit far to go for an interview in person.

Honestly, going to church got me my job....and that's probably the most useful thing it's done for me. I probably shouldn't say that, I bet that sounds kinda bad....oh well.
Anyway, I got old enough to start job hunting so I asked my first Sunday School teacher if he was hiring. Pretty soon, I started working for him and his uncle at their architectural company. At first, I thought their work was boring...sitting at a computer all day, just clicking away at the mouse. But, as I stayed at the company, the more interested I got, and now that's what I want to do. My job's still boring sometimes, but at least I get to work in a comfy office and make more than minimum wage.
Long story short, it was who I knew, not what I knew that got me my job. And, honestly, with the way the job market is now, I think that's pretty much how anyone gets a job. It's not what you know, it's who you know. And that's kind of sad....

I told an employment agency I was getting arthritis and I am only looking for lite work in this small town, pay doesn't matter-I just want to occupy my time, so she asked how would I like this? Well, I have been here for 3 months now, and I still love coming to work. I am a reservations agent...and it's fun. People that are surrounded by me are wonderful and I enjoy working with them as well... Hours are great for me. I hope to stay with this company for awhile..

I heard about my present job from a jobs website that's focused on my field. I didn't know anyone there but I did submit 2 references who my current employer did check out. I didn't interview anyone but my current boss interviewed me.

I work at Radioshack now. I got the job six months ago working at a supermarket. I had a guy come in every day who would get somthing, eventually we got to talking, he was working as a temp manager at the R.S. in that plaza, and he was telling me about his regular store. I said how much I hate my current job, he said I should apply, and he would put in a good word. It worked! It is the best job I have ever had, I love going to work every day (As in, I look forward to leaving for work) The people I work with are awesome, Make good money, LOVE IT!
