Sweetheart, don't be scared. What's happening to you is totally normal. You might start to become a little moody due to hormone changes and you will grow more body hair and should start your period by age 15 at the latest. You are becoming a woman, and that is a beautiful thing. Talk to your mom or another adult you can trust; there might even be a good book on the subject in your school library. Good luck and God bless.

Don't be terrified, what is happening to you is perfectly natural and nobody has ever died from it. I would suggest talking with your mom about it. Talk to her about what your period is going to be like and what to do when it starts. Where are the sanitary pads kept and how do you use them? What to do if you get cramps? If your mom is not helpful then go to your school nurse and talk to her. What you are going through every woman in history has gone through. Your first period is going to be scary but it will help to know exactly what to do when it happens. Keep a sanitary pad in a Ziploc bag in your purse. And perhaps keep a change of clothes in your locker at school just in case. Also, I find it much more comfortable to wear a dress with ankle socks instead of pants or skirts when I'm having my period. Most women will gain some water weight making pants and skirts fit more snugly and if you also have cramps the tight clothes may add to your discomfort. Also, a heating pad is very helpful in relieving cramps. Ask your mom if there is a heating pad in the house and where it is kept. There is also a product called TUMMY TEA that I find very helpful. Being prepared will help make you feel less fearful and more in control about what is happening to you.

First, there is NOTHING to be scared of. This is normal. You should be happy you are maturing into a woman. There is nothing to be terrified of. Hair may come first. You may not get your period anytime soon, but odds are its coming soon. Be prepared. Talk with your mom, doctor or school nurse. Check out a book and research whats going to happen so you know whats normal and what is not. There is lots of info out there and The more educated you are, the healthier and safer you can be. Do you have a older sister you can talk to? Knowing whats going on will help with a lot of your fear.

Don't worry, it happens to us all. Your body will change a lot, but relax-- it's nothing bad!
You should feel comfortable talking to your mom about stuff like this, but if not, talk to the school nurse, or someone else you can trust.

Frankly, if you are really 10 years old you have no business on Yahoo answers. There's a lot of stuff on here that just is not appropriate for a 10 year old. Do yourself a favor and spend your online time elsewhere.
